Users complete sign up forms for web services without knowing much---if anything---about how their data will be shared. This information asymmetry reduces web users' ability to make good decisions. The TD-CHAIN system was developed to allow people access to timely information on how the data that they submit in web forms will be shared, and to the reputations of the sharing parties. In addition TD-CHAIN allows brokers to verify the integrity of data they receive, and to gain competitive advantage by building their reputations. TD-CHAIN is implemented to run on a blockchain using smart contracts, so computations are distributed, there is an immutable record of all transactions, and there is no need for trusted third parties.
